Neutral Ground is an informational campaign formed in response to Ireland’s increasing shift toward militarisation — from the removal of the Triple Lock to proposals for purchasing fighter jets. We believe this is a critical moment to call for a public referendum on Irish neutrality, to protect it for future generations. Although polls consistently show strong public support for neutrality, it is not protected in the Irish Constitution, and the government has publicly stated that a referendum is “not appropriate.” Neutral Ground challenges this by raising awareness, providing factual information, and promoting democratic action. At the heart of the campaign is our website, a hub for resources, news, and opportunities to take action. We’ve created a printed information booklet exploring the history and current state of Irish neutrality, along with posters that present key facts and questions. Each poster features a QR code linking back to our website, where supporters can sign a petition, contact their local TDs, and share the campaign. To build visibility and community, we’ve also designed branded merchandise — including t-shirts, hats, badges, and protest signs — helping supporters proudly represent the cause.
For this project, I created a book in response to the ISTD “Interactions” brief, exploring blockchain technology as a “new language of trust”. Rather than focusing solely on cryptocurrency, I looked at how the different components of blockchain—blocks, chains, nodes, consensus—interact to create secure and transparent systems. We often hear about Bitcoin, but what powers it? And is blockchain useful beyond crypto? As a newcomer to the subject myself, I set out to make this book as clear and accessible as possible. It’s designed for readers who know little or nothing about blockchain, but who are curious about how it works and why it matters. Through simple explanations, analogies, and visuals, the book unpacks a complex system in a way that feels approachable and relevant to everyday life.
