Sunshine

My collection Sunshine aims to bring colour and fun with a nod to a retro vibe to fashion, creating an uplifting alternative to what currently exists. The range was inspired by childhood holidays spent in South Donegal, appreciating nature in coastal walks, in particular summer flowers, and sightings of the six-spot burnet moth. The six-spot burnet moth flies with a slow, fluttering care-free pattern reminiscent of childhood times spent at my granny’s. The collection has a 60’s influence which pays homage to my granny’s home and styling, but it is also very much influenced by the designs in the Mary Quant Collections. I believe that the Sunshine Collection represents the joy, excitement and positivity of the summer season. The Sunshine range is a very bright and comfortable collection and it includes a selection of vibrant colours put together in different patterns. The garments can be worn for any occasion, dressed up to go on a night out with friends, or teamed with more casual accessories for a lunch or coffee date. Some fabrics are embellished with flowers and butterflies cut out using laser cutting. Butterflies in a variety of sizes and colours are also hand embroidered on the fabrics. Colourful stripes are also included in my patterns and fabrics which brings a funky vibe to my collection. The hand embroidery also is reflective of the skills my Grandmother passed down to me.
