Sixties Revolution

My collection of dresses are inspired by the 60’s, an era of revolution and change in many social and political aspects. Both black and white people protested against the segregation towards the black community, Americans protested against fighting in the Vietnam war and the birth control pill was introduced meaning women had more freedom to plan their lives and have babies when they decided. The inspiration came from the colours, prints and flares, but also the counterculture that was very evident in this time. My range reflects a care-free, free-spirited person. This person loves to live life one day at a time and revels in the attention that their laissez-faire attitude brings. They speak their mind and stand up for what they believe in. All the fabrics used in the construction of the range is from deadstock fabric which has been re-imagined
