Collection ‘Scavengers’ comes from a wasteland where the world has been destroyed by climate catastrophes. Inspired by Dystopian media such as the Mad Max saga, Exodus by Julia Berghain, and many other movies and books in this genre that captured my generation. The wearer can connect to this story, even imagining how they would express themselves in the event of societal collapse. This collection is a response to the industry's current state and calls for a need for change. The collection embraces sustainability through the use of deadstock and recycled fabrics allowing the materials to guide the design process. Each piece is shaped by these ‘limitations’ making every garment a unique creation. Aesthetics are raw, industrial, but also surreal and angelic, imaginative, defiant yet functional, reflecting the spirit of survivalism in a world on the edge of collapse. I weave nostalgic memorabilia into each of the looks, symbolising a world from before, as I believe the sentimentality of humanity will continue to be preserved through art even in the event of societal collapse, as we humans are sentimental creatures.
