Extended Boundaries

‘’Extended Boundaries’ collection reimagines the formation of personal and social space as a physical forcefield. It explores how personal space can expand and contract, adapting to the wearer's emotional state. Deep folds, layered volumes and exaggerated silhouettes combined with the dark iridescent taffeta and the rich textured Donegal tweed, symbolises the tension between vulnerability and strength. Bold sculptural forms and intense fabric manipulations, create palpable wearable shields, expressing protection, separation and empowerment. These rounded inflated shapes and unconventional contours speak of the complexity of human boundaries, offering a commanding sense of presence while maintaining a protective barrier. Each garment tells a story of resilience, introspection and personal evolution, transforming personal space into a visibly striking sculpture. My brand name "Dare to Howl” was inspired by the 1950’s poem ‘Howl’ by Allen Ginsberg and its first line “I saw the best minds of my generation be destroyed by madness.”. Like the poem, my brand is edgy, unapologetically bold, rebellious, and disruptive. Howl celebrated those that weren’t mainstream. It highlighted the hypocrisy of those who welcomed difference but refused to protect those that were different. Dare to Howl values individuality, tolerance, and acceptance. It works hard to honour those who didn't make it on the journey and values the importance of freedom from anguished thoughts and negativity.
